Why We Booked Flights and Cancelled Them all Within 9 Hours

I did it again. I booked last minute flights for the weekend.  This time, I chose the absolute cheapest flights available…$150 round trip for both of us.  Destination: Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Why, of all the places on this awesome earth would I choose Minneapolis?  Here is what Greg and I have learned over the past few years about traveling-we don’t care where we are going.  As strange as that sounds, it really is not about the destination for us.  We have never regretted visiting any of the places we’ve been, and I doubt we ever will.  Would I choose to live in all of them permanently? No.  For us the fun in traveling is pure and simple exploration.

So why did we cancel our flights only 9 hours after booking them?IMG_8813

We rarely spend a weekend at home base, but we made the decision to lay low this weekend, and I’m so glad we did.  I worked 57 hours last week at work, and Greg woke up at 4:15am to be at work at 5.  By Friday end of day, we were naturally exhausted.  This weekend, we actually felt like we did not have the energy to travel.  (What a terrible problem, I know.) It is not something we feel very often at all, but we’ve had such a busy last month:  I took the CPA exam (and passed!!!), we went to Chicago, and my sister had a baby (who happens to be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen…at least that’s my unbiased opinion).

IMG_8814 (1)This weekend has been simple and awesome.  We had the opportunity to recharge our batteries and really spend some quality time digging deep to think about Kinetic Kennons and exactly what our mission is.  We hiked this really neat park about 2 miles from home base that we had no idea even existed.  We went to the grocery store for the first time in more than a month.  We had a game night with friends and stayed there until 12:30am.

<<<—Proof this is rare 🙂

It has been so refreshing to remember that one of the things we love about traveling is spending time with each other and we have had the best weekend relaxing to gear up for our next trip!

Keep it Kinetic,

Hillary
