What makes you happy?
What makes you smile or makes you feel excited?
Do more of that.
You are going to die. It is a fact. (Harsh reality, I know.) Do not spend your life doing things you do not enjoy. Sure, you may not be able to quit your job and do EVERYTHING that you want to do. Start small. Add in a few activities here and there that make you happy and excited. Do not spend so much time on Facebook. It will only piss you off (and that is pretty much a guarantee).
For us, traveling is life. It makes us excited, happy, and it is what makes us feel most alive. Therefore, we try and maximize that feeling! Sitting around and watching TV makes us feel drained and depressed. We cannot travel 24/7-though we are trying-but what we can do is spend time planning and dreaming about future trips. The simple act of even thinking about travel is enough to increase our happiness.
To be able to do more of what you love, you are going to have to make some sacrifices. We did not buy new cars, get a 30 year mortgage, or have kids. We knew if we did those things then we would not be able to do what makes us happiest at this point in our lives. The decision you have to make will be completely different than ours. We suggest starting a list of 50 things that make you happy and feel excited. After you have your list, write down a few things you can do, or stop doing, that will enable you to increase the amount of “happy” activities you are engaging in.
We spend nearly all of our time and money on what we value: adventures around the world. This is what makes us happy. We challenge you to reconsider what makes you happiest in life and hope you choose to do more of that. Sending love and happiness your way 🙂
Keep it Kinetic,
Greg and Hillary
