The Best Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta: Fredy’s Tucan
Basilio Badillo 245, Emiliano Zapata, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jal.
We would be doing you a great disservice if we never mentioned the first restaurant we ate at in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Situated on Basilio Badillo and highway 200, Fredy’s is one of the best breakfast restaurants in town.
If you are looking to enjoy a delicious breakfast in a great atmosphere, Fredy’s Tucan is the perfect spot to visit! Fredy’s has a good mix of both American and Mexican breakfast staples. The buttery pancakes melt in your mouth, the chorizo is cooked to perfection, and the Machaca con Huevos is equally as delicious.
In addition to having great food, Fredy’s has an excellent wait staff. If you don’t know a lick of Spanish, Fredy’s staff speaks very good English and you will feel perfectly at home! They are very attentive, but not too much so, they anticipate your needs, and they always have a smile on their face. In fact, the staff at Fredy’s Tucan is the perfect representation of Puerto Vallarta as a whole.
During our time living in Puerto Vallarta, we have had the opportunity to get to know the owner, Fredy. He is an extremely nice guy and even remembered us after our three months away! He is genuine and kind and truly appreciates his patrons.
With all of the awesome things about Fredy’s, this place also comes with some unavoidable negatives. Because Fredy’s is so good, it gets really busy on the weekends (especially during high season). If you are in Puerto Vallarta during the months of December to April, we suggest going around 8-9:30am if you want to avoid a wait time. However, Fredy’s even makes your wait a pleasant experience. They have plenty of chairs outside of the restaurant and they even have a coffee and water station! If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta From May-November, the city will be relatively slow going and it’s likely you won’t experience wait times at Fredy’s no matter what time of the day you are visiting. Enjoy!
Our food suggestion:
