In March of 2017, we moved back to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. For the first 10 days I (Greg) wrote down our thoughts, feelings, and initial experiences upon moving back to Mexico. Over the next few weeks we will be posting these old posts.
Over a year later it is incredibly interesting to read our own thoughts- we hope you find them interesting as well 🙂
Day 001
Yesterday we moved back to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! Although we want to travel all over the world, we just could not resist to coming back to Puerto Vallarta. There is just something magical about it that we just cannot let go of yet.
Before moving, we were really nervous about going to Puerto Vallarta again. We were not sure it would have the same magic that it did the first time we moved here. I like to compare it to getting back with an ex- it is just never the same. Upon arrival, our fears, nerves, and worries evaporated into the cool ocean breeze immediately. Moving back to PV is actually not like trying to get back with an ex at all-it is like seeing an old friend you have not seen in years. Although you may be nervous about trying to pick back up, true friends can pick back up and be running in full stride immediately.
Moving back to Puerto Vallarta feels that same way–magical.
Seeing the ocean, the old shops, and all of our old friends made us feel like we made the right decision. Driving through the city in a taxi on the way to our new apartment, we felt as though we were back home. Not back at a cool destination, or back at the ocean, but back home.
That is a special feeling.
We have accommodations booked through the middle of June, so we have about three months in Puerto Vallarta this time. Though we do not feel that we took advantage of living here the first time, we are going to try to do our best to appreciate every moment we have here, every sunset we get to watch, and every street taco we can eat.
The hard part of all of this will be deciding where we are going to live in July. Do we book another place in Puerto Vallarta, the city that we love so much? Or do we try somewhere new like San Miguel De Allende? We know there are other great cities in the world that we would love to live in, but it is really hard to imagine leaving PV again.
Given that we have no idea what we are going to do in July, we are going to soak in every moment of the next three months!
Reading this makes us miss Puerto Vallarta so much! However, I am extremely grateful that we have decided to branch out from Puerto Vallarta. We have learned so much about Mexico in the last few months and we cannot wait to explore all of the places we have yet to see. Just like in our original post, we still have no idea where we will be living just a few short months from today 😉
Keep it Kinetic,
Greg and Hillary
